Hello Tech-Support People,

There is something seriously wrong with my DuraFIRM ink, but I do not know what it is.

I purchased a liter of black DuraFIRM ink from 123inkrefills.com in August 2008.

It has been working fantastically until now. Now, it does not work at all. At first I thought that the ink cartridges might be old, so a few weeks ago, I went to Staples and purchased brand-new ink cartridges to install in both of my printers. When the first of these new ink cartridges needed a refill today, I filled it with ink as I had done countless times before with previous cartridges.

But it is not working. When I try to print documents out, nothing comes out! I tried putting the ink cartridge in my other printer, but it doesn't work in that one either! I then used cleaning fluid to clean the bottom of the ink cartridge, and even let it sit for a couple of hours on top of a few drops of cleaning fluid in a dish, but this did not resolve the issue either.

Suddenly, the ink is simply no longer working! I only purchased it in August 2008 and it has been working great until four weeks ago. I have kept it all during this time very tightly sealed and wrapped up in several plastic bags, and kept in a cool, dark, dry place to keep it fresh.

I am completely baffled. I do not understand this. Can the ink have become rancid in just seven months? This does not make sense. It looks perfectly fine and fluid to my eye when I take it out of the bottle with a needle. When I dab some on paper with the needle, it looks great. The only thing strange is that it simply no longer works, even when installed in brand-new cartridges for their first refills!

It is really strange -- my refilling the cartridge, accomplishes absolutely nothing. It is as if I did not refill it at all. I put 14 ml of new ink into the cartridge (a Canon number 30 black cartridge for my Canon ip1800 and Canon MP210 printers), but it is as if I did not add any new ink! The cartridge still behaves as if it were completely empty!

I know these Canon cartridges do not need a reset chip, because I have been using the same number Canon cartridges (black number 30 and color number 31) for the past year and a half, and they have never had any problems being refilled!

Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Has anyone else had anything like this?

As I have said, I am completely baffled. I simply cannot figure this out. When I take the ink out of the bottle with a needle, it looks like it is in perfect condition. When I put a little of it with a needle onto a piece of paper it looks bright, vibrant, and very fluid. I can’t understand why the cartridges are still behaving as if they were empty, especially since, to troubleshoot, I placed a few drops of cleaning fluid on the bottom of them and let them sit for several hours.

If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them sharing it with me.

Thank you so much.

Will the DuraFirm ink refill kit work for my MP190 printer? I asked the supplier for an answer, but got a partial answer. I understand if I refill the cartridge the printer may not recognize that it is full and will indicate that by a empty reading. I don't care about that part, I only want to know if the printer will print, once it recognizes the empty cartridge even though it has been filled with the refill ink? Any answers appreciated.
Thanks
