Hello,
Chances are the toner amount is different and confusing the printer.
This is an excerpt from Lexmark's website. This also applies to leaking toner:
The cartridge yield setting must be changed before the new cartridge is physically installed. You will need to change the Cartridge Yield setting from Standard Yield to High Yield (or vice versa) for the corresponding color (cyan, magenta, yellow or black). This setting can be changed in the Configuration Menu. Follow the instructions below.
1. Power the printer off.
2. While the power is off, simultaneously hold down the Select and Return buttons and power the printer back on. Release the buttons when Performing Self Test appears on the printer display.
3. Use the Menu button(s) to navigate to the Cartridge Yield menu and press Select to enter the menu.
4. Use the Menu button(s) to move between the four cartridge colors and press Select to choose the color of the cartridge yield setting that is to be changed.
5. Use the Menu button(s) to change the setting to =High Yield (or =Standard Yield) and then press Select to save the change.
NOTE: The default for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black is Standard Yield. The changes to the yield will not take effect until the user exits the Configuration Menu. If the machine is running starter cartridges (i.e., the cartridges that shipped with the printer), the changes made in this menu will not appear until the machine believes a new cartridge has been installed.
6. Press Return until Cartridge Yield appears on the display and then use the Menu button(s) to navigate to Exit Config Menu.
7. Press Select to get the printer back to normal operational mode.
8. You must now indicate via the Supplies Menu that a supply has been replaced. Do the following:
1. Install the new, high or standard-yield cartridge(s).
2. Press the Menu button(s) to navigate to the Supplies Menu. Press Select.
3. Press the Menu button(s) to navigate to the new supply item just installed and press Select. The current default value is =Not Replaced.
4. Press the Menu button(s) until =Replaced appears on the display. Press Select. The display will briefly flash the word Saved.
5. Press the Go button to get the printer back to the Ready state. |
