Waiting on Input End Job?
Problem Description:
Message: Waiting on Input End Job on printer display.
Solution
If a print job is send via the network, the job will be split up in several packages that are send over the network. If the first package arrives at the printer, the printer will start taking the job and interpret the print job. If there are still packages on their way to the printer but due to 'heavy' network traffic, the packages are delayed, the printer will display "Waiting on input end job" because the printer finished interpreting the data it got but the printer has not received the last package of the print job.
Problem Description:
Waiting on input end job when sending a job via the parallel port:
Solution
When sending a print job via the parallel port, all the packages are lined up directly after each other. The last package of the job contains a HP EOD (CTRL-D) or QMS EOD (%%EndOfJob). On one of these commands, the printer is capable of recognizing the end of job. By default the End Of Job (EOD)string is set to none. Which means that the printer does not react on a End Of Job command. If the printable file contains a QMS EOD, you should change in the printer menu the EOD to QMS EOD to make is affective. If this is not done, the printer will wait till the wait-time out is passed and start printing the job.
Example:
The difference between a network connection and a parallel connection is that when a job is send via the network, an end of job command is ALWAYS send but when sending a job via the parallel port, the end of job is not always send.
This message on the printer display is NOT an error and the only solution is to print smaller files.
The message simply says: "I have not received the last line of the printable data and I'm waiting for this". |
