I have been using the HP refill kit for my C5280 Photosmart printer for about a month or so. I am still having problems with the cartridges especialy the 75 color cartridge. Not all of the colors want to print acurately and the color's don't mix properly to create other colors such as Orange, Browns, Purple's. Lavender's, Cold, Neutral, and Warm gray's, and various Red's. Etc.
It's to darn problematic for what I paid for the refill kit. Could there be a problem with the cartridge it's self or could it be some thing else? The color cartridge is the worst. Should I start with a new color cartridge and refill it as I go or what? The 74 Black cartridge isn't anywhere near the trouble. _________________ Refilling Is A Great Deal Less Expensive Than Buying New |

Are you printing on photo paper, or regular paper when you see these color changes?
Photo paper is very picky on the kind of ink it formulates with to bring you the final product. Since both the chemicals on the photo paper and the chemicals from the ink work together, you may need to find a suitable photo paper replacement that will work better with the ink.
Now, if your having this problem on standard stock paper, then it may seem that the ink that may have been left over inside the cartridge is still mixing with the new ink. If you've done a few refills and this is still a problem, then you may want to reassure that the inks were refilled in the proper places. If some ink mixed into the wrong chamber, you could be facing color contamination, which would mean a new cartridge is needed. |

I am printing on regular paper stock. I followed all direction to the letter. The chambers were filled with the right colors. It's odd that only two colors want to print. Most of the time the yellow won't print and sometimes it will. I tried to add additional ink to the yellow tank, but it was almost full. I checked the other tanks and found them to be full also.
I have run diagnostic printing proceedures with the same results, no Yellow. I have run the cleaning function several times and finally got some of the Yellow to print but it was very light. The reds also didn't print properly. I can't get a good dark red. I thought this was going to be an easy fix to expensive new print cartridges but I am not so sure any more.
I have done everything the right way and I still have printing probems. It's not the printer either. Often times on the printers LCD I get error messages about the cartridges and I have to reset the printer so it will print. One day I pinted four sheets of paper just to get one good decent printout. I was going to buy a Spider Color correction device for my computer but at nearly $200.00, it stayed in the store.
Thank for your input on this subject. I am going to keep trying. _________________ Refilling Is A Great Deal Less Expensive Than Buying New |

You could also try this to see if it helps...
1. Pour hot water onto a small plate that is at most 1/4inch in depth.
2. Place the head of the cartridge (where the ink comes out of when printing) into the water
3. Leave the cartridge there until the water cools and then repeat the first two steps 2 more times
4. Dry the cartridge and test it in the printer
If there is any kind of clog, this could help loosen things up. |
