THE RIBBON IS TWISTED
This can happen if the ribbon catches on the machine during installation.
The ribbon can be manually advanced with the finger dial on the top right of the cassette to eliminate the twist. Take more care in installing the ribbon.

THE RIBBON IS NOISY
This is due to the weak clutch motor in the PostPerfect meter, combined with the tension level on Nupost's earliest product. Current NuPost P767 ribbons have much lower tension to solve this issue.
Replace the ribbon.
Note: The original ribbon tension design will only cause noise with machines that have worn clutch motors.

Dear Inkfiller, no one has responded to my post so I am trying to contact a moderator directly:

I purchased the refilling kit 155-100-01UNIKIT to refill my CL-40 and CL-41 cartridges for PIXMA300... I want to make sure I am buying the right product. Can anyone verify this please?

Yes that item will work on PG40 / CL41.
