The external tank consists of two chambers. One is called “Ink Storage Chamber”-the tall one, used to store the ink. The other is called “Air Pressure Balance Chamber”, used to balance the air pressure of the system. All the ink should be stored inside the “Ink Storage Chamber”. The ink inside the” Air Pressure Balance Chamber” should be minimum after balancing. The ink level is barely above the interconnecting channel between the “Air Pressure Balancing Chamber” and the “Ink Storage Chamber”.
During shipping, the ink may flow from the “Ink Storage Chamber” to the “Air Pressure Bal Chamber”, causing the pressure unbalance. Therefore, before the installation of the system, lay the external tanks horizontally on the desk with the “Ink Storage Chamber” at the bottom and the “Air Pressure Bal Chamber” on the top. The ink will immediately flow from the “Air Press Bal. Chamber” to the “Ink Storage Chamber”. Then put the external tanks back to the normal (vertical) position. The ink level inside the “Air Pressure Balance Chamber” should be lower than the print head of the printer. Otherwise the ink will leak from the cartridge through the outlet. Following is my response to the questions:
1) When “Low Ink” shows, press “Confirm” on the screen. And continue to proceed. Sometimes, if the uneven printing happens, just continue to print. After printing few more pages, the printing will be back to normal.
After the vacuum filling of the CIS, a small amount of ink may be pushed of the cartridge, and stay there at the outlet of the cartridge. Or when the blue sealing tape is pulled small amount of ink may come out. This small amount of ink may cause uneven printing, until after printing a few pages. Or due to a small vacuum created at the outlet.
2) Cartridges are not installed properly.
3) The cartridge chip may be bad. Or the cartridge chips and the printer are not compatible. Check if this printer is HP D2460 or different HP models.
4) Before the installation of the system, lay the external tanks horizontally on the desk with the “Ink Storage Chamber” at the bottom and the “Air Pressure Balance Chamber” on the top. After the ink flows back to the “Ink Storage Chamber”, put the external tanks back to the normal vertical position. Besides, be sure keep the external tanks on the desk at the same level with the printer. Therefore the ink level at the “Air Pressure Balance Chamber” is always lower than the print head. Otherwise the ink will leak from the cartridge due to the higher pressure at the “Air Pressure Balance Chamber” than at the cartridge outlet. _________________ InkGuy

| I’m using a laser printer, I print a lot in black, but I will need to print high quality color material as well soon. Is it worth getting and inkjet with continuous ink supply? Also, laser printers are not good for your health… |
