Please note that there is a small electronic chip on the outside of the 4100, 4100DTN, 4100N & 4100TN cartridge which reports (via radio frequency transmission) the toner level in the cartridge, back to the machine.
This should pose little, if any, problem for anyone as long as they keep a periodic eye on the print quality of the cartridge (and refill accordingly).
If you do as 99% of the users do and use the printed output as an indicator for a cartridge that is running low on toner, then this will pose no problem for you, at all.
The only time we have had users indicate the lack of the “toner low” reporting function to be a problem is in high-volume, network environments where jobs can be queued remotely and no one watches the output (until it is too late and the job has already been printed-only to find out the cartridge is running out of toner).
In those environments, we encourage users who are still interested in saving 65%-75% over the cost of new HP 4100 cartridges to periodically monitor their output to make certain the cartridge is still printing properly and has adequate toner in it. |
