The QMS 2300 sensor is a small, white piece of plastic on the edge of the cartridge on the opposite side of the colored plastic end cap.
Once the cartridge is placed into the printer, the sensor gets pushed out of the cartridge. When recharging the cartridge, the sensor must be pushed back into the cartridge in order to reset it.
If the sensor is not pushed back into the cartridge, the printer will
show an error.
To reset the sensor, first you have to remove the end cap. Begin
doing so by removing the three screws indicated on the right.
Next, remove the end cap entirely by removing a fourth
screw on the cartridge
Caution:
When removing the end cap, do not damage the copperplate on the
cartridge body
The end, or bottom portion of the sensor has teeth on it. When you have removed the end cap, position the sensor in such a way that the teeth of the sensor mesh with the teeth of the bottom gear of the cartridge.
NOTE: It is very important that the teeth of the sensor mesh with the bottom gear’s teeth. If, after you have reset the cartridge and put it back
into the printer and you hear a ‘grinding’ noise when printing, then the teeth have not meshed properly. If you hear such a ‘grinding noise’, you
need to open the cartridge up and reset the sensor again.
Attach the end cap back onto the cartridge with the four screws. This completes the reset.
Caution: When attaching the end cap, check that the copperplate fits the cartridge. |
