| I have a Brother HL-4070CDW that I purchased toner refill for. On the magenta cartridge (TN-110M) i get a "TONER LIFE END" message. I did the procedure correctly to refill, even emptying the toner completely out and refilling a second time. I did reset the counter wheel, but I continue to get the message. Also, I did not empty the cartridge before starting the first fill. Please advise. |

Hi andyk01,
The cartridge works two ways. One, it needs to have the gear reset in order for the printer to thing your dealing with a new cartridge. And second, there's a window on the cartridge where a beam of light shines thru. If the cartridge allows that beam to continue across then it reads it as empty.
There are two ways around this. One would be to simple makes sure you have toner in the cartridge so that the beam does not pass thru the cartridge and reads it as full once the toner reset gear is reset. The second way would be to cover the hole with tape on both ends, reset the gear, and then install it into the printer.
Hope this works out for you. |

I put the balck tape over mine and it worked for the black. I guess I wasn't out of color. A few days later, my colors all went out at the same time. I don't think so!! I found out how to reset the 'life'/'counter' for them. Here is the info. IT WORKED FOR ME!!!!

This printer will tell you when you are out of toners and need new ones. And when you are out with just one of the color toner, this printer will not allow you to print anything until you replace it with the new toner. So here is how to override these problem, and you decide when the toner needs to be changed... and not the printer. 1. Slide out the toner trays and put a piece of black electrical tape over the sensors on each color toner. This will make the print think that it has full toner. 2. If you already see "Replace Toner" messages, just RESET it by opening the front COVER and pressing CLEAR and REPRINT together. Scroll up and down to reset desired toner. 3. If you think you have more life and juice left on its drum and laser parts, just reset it and forget it! Open the COVER, and hold down GO and hit UP (+) button. Scroll through the menu to select and reset!!!! After the "replace toner" message, I reset the counter, and I have printed over 2000 more pages on a same cartridge.
...
But be aware! You will start to see some "sprinkles of toners" on your pages as they are way over used. hide |
