Panasonic came out with this multifunction unit last fall. Office Deport was is selling it and had a two time promotion for $100 which is the cost of just the replecement drum.
(Yes, I did think about getting a 2nd one if nothing else for the drum, a starter cartridge and mostly for parts, but I didn't).
Pros;
1. Cost: copier, printer & scanner for $100 (271 version),
2. Compact size, low profile (compared to most others),
3. Three in one machine w/o the fax with the 271 (I didn't want or need),
4. Front input tray loading,
5. Document feeder (at reduced scan quality).
Cons;
1. Noisey,
2. No power switch,
3. Very hard to find replcement cartridge and drum,,
4. Expensive replacements (yes, that's where they make their $$),
5. USB connection is very sensistive to cable lenght. Transfer speed drops severly after 6 feet,
7. Front output trays flimsy plastic extensions are a accident waiting to happen. (see below),
8. High current consumption when running (800+ watts).
The biggest issue here is the lack of availability of replacement cartridges and drums and the cost. The cheapest I have been able to find is $47 for the cartridge and $87 for the drum (delivered)
I have been unable to find ANY bulk toner at all!
Regarding the output tray, I cut a piece of cardboard to subsistute for the flip out extension to prevent it from breaking off. This works ok. |

Hello,
At this time we do not offer a compatible toner. Would you like to be notified as soon as it becomes available?

Yes.
There must be toner for other Panasonic machines that would work. Hoe often do manufactures change their formulations? |

Yes there is. On e-bay.
Someone is selling bulk toner in small bottles. I bought one and refilled a cartridge already. |
