Hi,
I'm at my wits end trying to get the "auto-reset" chips to reset on the CIS system I bought for my Epson 7400CX. The system worked for awhile in the beginning, but now *none* of the ink carts in the system are accepted. The vendor told me different things to try (turn off printer for 5 minutes, etc.) and I tried all those things, even rebooting with printer off, multiple times and still no luck.
Thought I'd try a "resetter" so I just ordered that here from inktelligent.com but am now wondering it that will just be a waste of money...if these chips are really supposed to auto-reset and won't, perhaps evena resetter won't do the trick? Are the chips ruined? Do I need new ones? Wondering if the time and aggravation I'm investing into this "save money CIS system" is worth the "savings". |

Hello,
The resetter may work but it has only been tested on OEM cartridges. If the CIS is relatively new try contacting customer for a replacement.
The auto-resetting chips should automatically reset once they have reached a predetermined number.
Try unplugging the printer from the wall outlet for 24 hours to erase the internal memory and see if the chips reset.

Hi inkgirl,
I just received the resetter but am confused... I could have sworn the one I ordered said it was for 9-pin carts and was compatible with my CX7400, yet the one I received says it isn't compatible with the newer carts, only the older 7-pin ones.
So, I went to the sales site try to find the original listing I ordered from and can't locate it. The one I paid for was $17.99 and was pictured in a yellowish box on the site (and on my invoice). The one I received sells for for $11.99 and comes in different packaging (transparent plastic). Given the price difference, the difference must be more than just packaging.
I'm afraid if I try it out anyway, I won't be able to send it back. Should I just package it up and send back for a refund w/o opening/trying it?

Hello,
Yeah you will need the version 4.0 resetter which is for the 7 pin & 9 pin chips.
