I've purchased a toner refill kit for my Lexmark e120n. The cartridge requires a replacement chip and a new chip comes with the refill kit. Howeer, when I put the new chip on the cartridge, the printer goes into an error mode - cartridge not installed or damaged. When I put the old chip back on, the printer works fine but reports that it is out of toner.
Everything I read tells me all that needs to be done is put the new chip on the cartridge and it should work. Does anyone have any ideas why the new chip won't work? |

Hello,
Please let me know which kit you purchased just to make sure that it has the compatible chip that your printer requires.
Also, there may be a defect in the chip and it just needs to be replaced. Contact the place of purchase to request a replacement.
Have you tried turing the chip around and then reinstalling the cartridge?

Hello and thanks for the reply.
The kit I purchased is:
(195-179-01) Uni-Kit Toner Refill Kit for Lexmark E120 / Lexmark E120n laser toner cartridges.
The chip package has a label that reads:
CD120 M
Chip for e120 (2K)
(New version).
I don't think I can turn the chip around as you suggest - there's a screw that holds the chip in place on the cartridge and there seems to be only one way it will fit.
I have contacted 123refills requestion a replacement chip as you suggest. |

| the chip must be faulty and the printer can not recognize it. I bought a toner and presented her with this similar problem and the technician who came to my office to review, told me that some disruption in the chip was the cause of these messages |
